Classification of steel sheet piles
Update time:2021-12-11

According to the production process, Huashun heavy industry steel sheet pile products are divided into two types: cold-formed thin-wall steel sheet pile and hot-rolled steel sheet pile.

(1) There are two types of cold-formed steel sheet piles: non undercut cold-formed steel sheet pile (also known as channel plate) and undercut cold-formed steel sheet pile (divided into L-type, S-type, U-type and Z-type). Production process: thinner plate is used (common thickness 8mm ~ 14mm) is continuously rolled and formed in the cold bending unit. Advantages: less investment in the production line, low production cost and flexible product sizing control. Disadvantages: the thickness of each part of the pile is the same, the cross-section size cannot be optimized, resulting in increased steel consumption, difficult to control the shape of the lock mouth, lax buckle at the connection, unable to stop water, and easy to tear during the use of the pile.

(2) Hot rolled steel sheet pile in the world, hot rolled steel sheet pile mainly includes several categories and dozens of specifications such as U-type, Z-type, as type and H-type. The production, processing and installation process of Z-type and as type steel sheet pile is relatively complex, which is mainly used in Europe and America; in China, it is mainly U-type steel sheet pile. Production process: it is formed by high-temperature rolling of section steel rolling mill. Advantages: standardized size, superior performance and cross-section Reasonable, high quality, lock mouth bite, and tight water resistance. Disadvantages: difficult technology, high production cost and inflexible specification series.

In engineering construction, the application scope of cold-formed steel sheet pile is relatively narrow, which is mostly used as the material supplement of application. Hot-rolled steel sheet pile has always been the leading product of engineering application. Based on the advantages of steel sheet pile in construction, the State Administration of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine and the National Standardization Management Committee issued the national standard of hot rolled U-shaped steel sheet pile on May 14, 2007 and officially implemented on December 1, 2007. At the end of the 20th century, Maanshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. produced more than 5000 tons of U-shaped steel sheet piles with a width of 400mm by virtue of the process and equipment conditions of the universal rolling mill production line introduced from abroad, which were successfully applied to the cofferdam of Nenjiang bridge, 300000 ton dock of Jingjiang new century shipyard and flood control project in Bangladesh. However, due to the low production efficiency, poor economic benefits, little domestic demand and insufficient technical experience during the trial production, the continuous production was not carried out. According to statistics, the annual consumption of steel sheet piles in China remains at about 30000 tons, accounting for only 1% of the world, and is limited to some port, wharf, shipyard construction and other projects, as well as temporary projects such as bridge cofferdam and foundation pit support.

The cold-formed steel sheet pile is formed by continuous rolling of the cold-formed unit, and the side lock mouth can be continuously overlapped to form a steel structure of the sheet pile wall. The cold-formed steel sheet pile adopts thinner plate (the common thickness is 8mm ~ 14mm), which is processed by the cold bending forming unit. Its production cost is low, the price is cheap, and the fixed length control is more flexible. However, due to the simple processing method, the thickness of each part of the pile body is the same, and the section size cannot be optimized, resulting in the increase of steel consumption; the shape of the locking part is difficult to control, and the buckle at the connection is not tight and can not stop water; restricted by the capacity of the cold bending processing equipment, only It can produce products with low strength grade and thin thickness of steel; Moreover, the stress generated in the process of cold bending is large, and the pile is easy to tear in use, so the application has great limitations. In engineering construction, the application scope of cold-formed steel sheet pile is narrow, which is mostly used as a supplement to the application of materials. Characteristics of cold-formed steel sheet pile: Economic and reasonable section can be selected according to the actual situation of the project to realize the optimization of engineering design. Compared with the hot-rolled steel sheet pile with the same performance, the material can be saved by 10-15%, greatly reducing the construction cost.
